Joining a
Commercial Trip

Many outfitters allow private kayakers or rafters to bring their own equipment on their trips. If you have experience and want to join a commercial trip, contact a few outfitters and ask about trip requirements. It's a great way to boat the river using your own gear and enjoying the services and knowledge of an experienced outfitter.

Non-Commercial Permit Information


Non-commercial permits allow people who own their own equipment to boat the Middle Fork on their own. Individuals looking to do a private trip must obtain a permit from the Forest Service. Non-commercial permits are allocated annually through a computerized lottery system. For information about permit requirements and a lottery application, contact:
